Madeira Natural Park is created

The Region gained an institution dedicated to protecting nature, biodiversity and landscape.

Regional Decree 14/82/M created Madeira Natural Park after decades of study and calls for conservation. The decision laid the institutional foundations for protecting unique natural heritage and managing much of the archipelago's protected land.
