Porto Santo Airport opens

A TAP Douglas DC-4 made the official inaugural flight to the new two-kilometre runway.

The airport gave Porto Santo a regular air link before Madeira island had its own runway. It profoundly changed resident mobility and opened a new phase in the island's tourism development.
